Data corruption is the unintentional transformation of a file or the losing of information which often occurs during reading or writing. The reason may be hardware or software fail, and as a result, a file can become partially or fully corrupted, so it'll no longer function correctly because its bits will be scrambled or lacking. An image file, for example, will no longer display an authentic image, but a random mix of colors, an archive will be impossible to unpack as its content will be unreadable, etcetera. When this kind of an issue appears and it isn't recognized by the system or by an admin, the data will be corrupted silently and when this happens on a disk drive that's a part of a RAID array where the information is synchronized between various different drives, the corrupted file will be reproduced on all of the other drives and the damage will be long term. A large number of widely used file systems either do not feature real-time checks or do not have good ones that will detect a problem before the damage is done, so silent data corruption is a rather common issue on internet hosting servers where large volumes of information are kept.

We guarantee the integrity of the data uploaded in each cloud hosting account that is created on our cloud platform as we use the advanced ZFS file system. The latter is the only one which was designed to avoid silent data corruption using a unique checksum for every single file. We'll store your data on a number of SSD drives that function in a RAID, so exactly the same files will exist on several places at the same time. ZFS checks the digital fingerprint of all the files on all of the drives in real time and in case the checksum of any file differs from what it has to be, the file system replaces that file with an undamaged version from another drive from the RAID. There's no other file system that uses checksums, so it is easy for data to be silently damaged and the bad file to be replicated on all drives over time, but since this can never happen on a server running ZFS, you don't have to worry about the integrity of your info.

No Data Corruption & Data Integrity in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you obtain one of our semi-dedicated server packages, you will not need to worry about silent data corruption because we use ZFS - a high level file system which checks all of the files in real time. Each time you upload a file to your hosting account, ZFS will assign a unique digital fingerprint to it - the so-called checksum. That file will be synchronized between several SSD drives for redundancy, so if a drive fails, the other ones will take over. ZFS compares the checksum of all the copies on the different drives and if it detects a damaged copy, it replaces it with a healthy one from another drive. This is done immediately, so there will be no threat for any part of your content at any time. In comparison, all of the other file systems perform checks only after a system malfunction, but since they do not use anything similar to the checksums that ZFS uses, they can't detect silently corrupted files, so a corrupted copy can be replicated on the rest of the disks as well and you could lose important data. Because this is not the case with ZFS, we warrant the integrity of each file you upload no matter what.
