If you have looked at a lot of websites, you've probably come across some error message from time to time. An error could occur if the web server can't process a request (Error 400), if you must log in to see some content and you have not done so (Error 401), if you are not allowed to access some page (Error 403) or when a link leads to a file that is not on the web server (Error 404). Getting such messages may sometimes be frustrating because the pages don't have anything in common with the actual website. That’s why some web hosting service providers allow you to use your own error pages which will match the design of your own website and that can have any content which you'd like - information why the error has occurred, a suggestion what you can do or even some witty comment. This sort of function shall help you keep the visitor on the site whatever the error or the reason for it.

Custom Error Pages in Cloud Hosting

When you get a cloud hosting plan from us, you will be able to set personalized error pages for your websites fast and easy, as this function is a part of all our solutions. As soon as you've created the files and uploaded them to your hosting account, you can go to the Hosted Domains section of your Hepsia Control Panel and click on the Edit button for the selected domain or subdomain. Inside the pop-up that will show up, you'll see drop-down options menus for all four sorts of errors and for each of them you may pick an Apache default page, a generic page from our system or a custom page. If you select the third option, you should only type the URL to the file you have uploaded and save the change. A different way to set customized error pages is to create an .htaccess file inside the domain or subdomain folder and to add several lines of code in it. In case you don't have prior experience or if you're simply unsure how to do this, you could simply copy/paste the code from our Knowledge Base article on that subject.

Custom Error Pages in Semi-dedicated Servers

All of the semi-dedicated hosting plans that we supply support custom error pages and it will not take more than several clicks from your Hepsia web hosting Control Panel to use this functionality. The option can be found in the Hosted Domains section of your Control Panel in which you'll have to input the links to the custom-made files via very simple drop-down menus and an intuitive interface. Of course, you should upload them to your account before that. If you do not want to use this function at some point, you can deactivate it just as quickly and choose an Apache server page or a default page from our system to be displayed whenever your visitors encounter an error. If you'd prefer, you may also use an .htaccess file to enable the custom made error pages. The file should have a specific line of code and a link for each and every error type and you can discover an example of the whole content for all four error types in our Help section.
